My First Doily Finished!

Posted by Hello

I'm so excited! This is my first finished doily. It's a free pattern on the Internet. The pattern is here. Many thanks to Cara for sharing the information about it in her gallery on her blog. I wonder if everyone is this excited when they finish their first doily?

It just seems to me like I have accomplished the impossible. I never thought I could do it. I've tried crocheting in the past with the size 10 thread and the small steel crochet hooks and gave up without much success. It seemed like the thread and hook were so small, but my love of dainty, elegant doilies has won out. Ever since I crocheted the angel I've been hooked. Now that I have finished this lovely doily, I'm really hooked.

WOW, Sharon! It's so beautiful!!! I cannot believe it's your first doily, you definitely have to see my first one! LOL You did great on yours! Congratulations! I'm so happy to know that now you are hooked with thread crochet because I am too!!! Hehe. And I think I have to make the same doily too! Thanks for the link. :)
Secret to make the tea time doily? Hmm... Let me think, did I use any tricks? :D OK, let me just re-write the beginning of Round 10 in my way again. - Slit Stitches into each of next 3 chains(makes 3 slit stitches), Slit stitch into next cluster(makes 1 slit stitch), slit stitch into next space(makes 1 slit stitch), then make 1 chain and sc in the same space, so and so forth. I hope this helps. :) Let me know how it goes. Oh, and Sharon, please check my blog because I've changed my e-mail address. Thanks!

Thank you, Cara and Chie. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I started on the Agnes pattern last night. So far, so good. I'll post a picture of it when I finish it, if it goes well.

By the way, the designer, Denise, emailed me back about the Tea Time
Doily for Rnd 10. Here is what she said and I quote "..... to clarify, you are to slip stitch in the next 3 chains, in the next cluster and into the space AFTER the cluster .... then continue with the round."

Chie, I think that's pretty much what you said and that makes sense to me, so I think I'll try it again when I finish Agnes.

I'm new at reading these patterns and I'm really enjoying crocheting
the doilies. I just hope I'm not wearing everyone out with my questions. Thank you so much for your patience.
